DATABASES

The scientific research undertaken within the National Registry relies on the large amount of registration, dosimetric and medical information accumulated since 1986. Information to be entered into the databases of the National Registry is normally taken from specialized primary paper documents. In particular, the main database of the Russian National Medical and Dosimetric Registry (RNMDR) includes information from more than 7 000 000 primary documents.

The databases maintained by the RNMDR are voluminous and detailed, as well as representative and high quality. These are data about persons exposed to radiation or subject to radiation effects as a result of the Chernobyl accident.

Another important line of activity for the National Registry is maintaining the joint Russian-Belarus registry as part of the collaborative program to mitigate the Chernobyl accident consequences.
