As of now, the Russian National Dosimetric and Medical Registry (RNMDR) includes 701 397 persons.

The age-sex structure of the RNMDR contingent (only persons who are under medical observation as of now) is:

Males         -     306 574 (58,5%);

Females     -     217 327 (41,5%);


Children           -       51 115 (9,8%);

Adolescents     -       19 933 (3,8%);

Adults              -     452 853 (86,4%).

On a whole, the number of males is 1.4 times higher than females and among emergency workers the number of males (126 965) exceeds that of females (4 771) by a factor of 26.6. On the worst contaminated territories, there are more females (187 367) than males (154 991), the difference being 1,2 times. Among 1986-1987 liquidators’ children the boys constitute
17 242 (52,0%), and girls – 15 926(48,0%).

Age distribution of the RNMDR contingent (under medical observation as of now)

There are two peaks in the distribution of the RNMDR (only persons who are under medical observation as of now) contingent: the first peak occurs at the age of 20-24 and the second - at the age range 55-59 years.

As to the liquidators in Russia in general, the highest number of persons 37 338 (28.3%) occur in the age range 55-59 years. A total of 95.4% of liquidators range from 40 to 69 years old. In all age intervals, most of the liquidators are males, with the number of female liquidators being 3.6%. The highest number of male liquidators 36 572 (28,8%) occur in the age range 55-59 years, and most of female liquidators (785 (16,5%)) range from 60 to 64 years.
